Welcome to Nourished Kidz Toowoomba
At Nourished Kidz, we are dedicated to supporting children and their families in achieving optimal development. Our Movement Therapy program employs a comprehensive approach that integrates primitive reflexes and brain hemisphere coordination, guided by the principles of the Melillo Method™.

Retained Primitive Reflexes
Primitive Reflexes develop in the brainstem before a baby is born. These provide basic necessities that help a baby position in the womb, birth, feed, establish head control, crawl and walk. Having primitive reflexes are signs of a healthy baby. Most primitive reflexes integrate by the time A child is 12 months of age. Movement plays a crucial role with the integration of these reflexes. If Primitive Reflexes are not integrated at the correct time this can lead to developmental stages being missed and can interfere with optimal functioning of the brain.

Our Approach
Once you reach out, we run through a series of checklists about your child’s development and health history.
During the initial visit we will complete a comprehensive functional developmental neurology assessment. Looking at Primitive Reflexes, Core Stability, Balance/Vestibular Systems and Brain Hemispheres.
Once we have assessed your child to identify any brain imbalances and primitive reflexes, we create an individual program aimed at helping your child reach their full developmental potential.

Techniques we use include; Melillo Method™, Primitive Reflex Integration, Movement Therapies to help build strength, core and balance, Left/Right Brain Exercises, Photobiomodulation (Low Level Light Therapy), Digital Therapies, Vibration, Sound, Smell and Colour Therapies.

FAQ
How does this therapy help my child?
Our program aims to strengthen the weaker areas of the brain and improve communication between the hemispheres. This can lead to noticeable improvement in attention, mood regulation, learning abilities, motor skills, social interaction and overall confidence.
How many sessions does my child need?
We take an individualised approach for every child; we recommend 1 x visit a week as well as completing home exercises daily to maximise the results
What type of conditions or challenges can this program help with?
Our movement program utilising the Melillo Method has been shown to support children with: ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia and learning delays, Sensory Processing difficulties, emotional dysregulation, motor coordination issues, speech and language delays and retained primitive reflexes
What happens during the initial assessment
The assessment includes a comprehensive review of your child’s developmental history, a reflex and motor screening, and functional neurological testing including balance, core and strength abilities. This helps us identify imbalances in brain function and create a tailored therapy plan that meets your child’s unique needs.
How do I know if my child needs this type of therapy?
If your child struggles with focus, learning, coordination, or emotional control—or has been diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental condition—an initial assessment can help determine if neurological imbalances or retained primitive reflexes are present. These are often underlying factors that can be addressed with this therapy.
What does a typical therapy session involve?
Sessions include a mix of movement-based exercises, reflex integration activities, sensory stimulation, and cognitive games. Each session is fun, engaging, and designed to challenge and strengthen the brain-body connection. We also give parents simple home exercises to support progress between sessions.
Do you provide support for families to continue progress at home?
Yes! Home practice is an important part of success. We provide parents with easy-to-follow exercises and routines to do at home, along with regular check-ins and support to ensure you’re confident and supported throughout your child’s journey.
Is the therapy safe? Are there any risks?
Absolutely. The Melillo Method™ complements other therapies such as speech, OT, and psychology. We often collaborate with other professionals to provide integrated support for your child.
